Juan Rivera, of Springfield, was charged with murder in the Saturday, June 1, slaying, the Hampden District Attorney's Office said.
Police were alerted to the fatal shooting just after 10:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Central Street after receiving a ShotSpotter alert. They arrived to find a man bleeding from a gunshot wound.
Paramedics rushed him to Baystate Medical Center, where he died of his injuries, the prosecutor said.
Authorities have not released the man's name as they notify his next of kin.
Police arrested Rivera this weekend and he was arraigned on Monday.
Springfield detectives are investigating the killing.
